HIIT – Do you want to burn fat faster and get great results in a shorter timeframe?

By August 4, 2016 No Comments

These days we are all busy with our lives and time is a factor. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) gives you a super effective and efficient workout in a small amount of time. You can reach heart rates of up to 180 bpm during HIIT training and you will feel these effects for hours after you finish.

20 mins of high Intensity is all you need. In these 20 mins you push yourself past your comfort zone and increase the fitness level you are used to. Rest for the amount of time you need to recover and give it your all in the next interval. Do this for a designated amount of rounds and you will burn those calories and fat for up to 24 hours.

Research shows you can achieve more progress in 20 minutes of interval training (3 x per week) than jogging for an hour at the same speed. Just 2 weeks of HIIT improves your aerobic capacity as much as 6 to 8 weeks of endurance training.

If you have pushed your body to your limits during a HIIT class, you will feel it’s effects for hours .The key is pushing. The more you up the intensity, the better results you will get. If you cruise at your comfort zone during your HIIT workout, you will not only feel disappointed in yourself but you won’t get the results as readily as if you trained at your maximum effort.
When I really push past my comfort zone, I feel the internal furnace of my metabolism revving up.

My cheeks go bright red and I can feel my body temperature is increased after I finish my workout. My body gets energised about 30 mins after the workout and this lasts for hours. I feel I have also improved in my running because of my HIIT training. I find running easier and I feel stronger and fitter when I run. My breathing is better and not as laboured. HIIT training burns fat, makes you leaner without losing muscle. It helps to develop muscle as you do a lot of bodyweight exercises through the workout.

Another exciting and motivating factor with High Intensity Interval Training is that it slows down the aging process. It stimulates the human growth hormone (HGH) during the 24 hrs after your workout. So not only is HGH responsible for increasing calorie burning, it makes you younger both inside and out! What a great reason to add it to your weekly exercise schedule!
So HIIT is where it’s at when it comes to most bang for your buck!
